A Walk around Tring Reservior
28/07/10 19:11
Had a great walk around the reservoirs at tring. The Grand union Canal gets its water from these pits, and it is the canals highest point. It was easy to see that the water level is well low and you will find a picture in my gallery to show you this. There is a vast amount of wildlife around the area and we took a few pictures of anything interesting. PLease take a look at the gallery for pictures also a detailed GPS planned route we made using iPhone- run-keeper software. There is also a Googlemap to help you plan a trip and some links that explain a lot more about the canal and tring cut. Hope you enjoy them.

Red Kites over Aston Rowant
03/07/10 18:02
Went to the great Aston Rowant nature reserve right next to the M40, this is a great place to view the largest british bird the red Kite. The area sits on top of a large hill and is a ideal place for the birds just to fly about looking for food. We must have seen about 20 red Kites also some Buzzards were seen and Kestrels. We took some photos but we were always a distance away from them. Will revisit soon i hope but a little earlier in the day. The place is also awash with Butterflies many both my dad and myself could not name. The area is never sprayed by farmers so is in great shape to support a vast amount of Wildlife.

Found this lovely little farm museum near the village of Ivinghoe buckingshire. Cost only £4 to get in and there was loads of things for us to see. The farm contains old farm machinery and other things rural. Also large collection of radios and a full reconstruction of a Lancaster Bomber cockpit that is fully complete in every detail. Take a look at the web site and remember that it only opens on the 2nd Sunday of the month, so next open day will be the 11th July 2010. Please have a look at the Youtube Video below i done. I have also included a googlemap for easy directions.
